Ever since I first saw Magnum PI with Tom Sellek back in the early 80’s, I fell in love with the Ferrari 308 GTS.

That car was hot!!!

It has also been in many movies of the period like National Lampoon’s Vacation, Cannonball Run and several others.  It was the iconic Ferrari of its time.  When I saw one on the road, I would follow it just to drive up close to give the owner a big thumbs up.  Back then it was so rare to see a Ferrari on the road. But when I did, it was always Rosso Corsa which has always stuck in my mind.  It would be the only color I would ever get in a Ferrari if I could ever afford one.  Fast forward to 2015 when I had enough “investment” money to buy one, I found an amazing example at Marshall Goldman in Cleveland.  I negotiated with the sales rep over the phone and when we agreed on a price, I flew out the next day.  When I saw this 308, it has only 19,000 original miles on it.  It has been very well maintained over the years and just needed a couple of door dings popped out and a major service. The black interior with red piping on the seats really made it stand out. The deal was done.  It was mine.

It arrived back at my home on Long Island a few days later, and I have had it ever since.  It has won an FCA Platino and Coppa Bella Macchina at the 2018 annual experience in Watkins Glen.  And for those who have shown their Ferrari at an FCA concours, you know this is not an easy award to get.  You have to know your car inside and out and everthing must work.  I also took it on the track at Watkins Glen for one session and had an absolute blast.

I still get such a thrill everytime I drive it.  It will be very hard for me to ever part with my 308.
